The awesomeness never stops.
After a day of kayaking around giant Karsts in halong Bay we went for a night swim in front of our little hut in Paradise. We’ve had a couple drinks with the cooks (rice white alchool of some sort) who are the only ones around. There are 10 huts on the beach but since we are the only ones on this sporty tour with simple accomodation (read no AC) the beach is ours. we dip into the fresh ocean water. Two words: Bio-luminescent Plancton. Ok maybe that is three words, but what a pleasure to swim in the darkness towards a boulder 15 meter high and suddenly you can see a flurry of light around your arms and hands. Little sparlkles awakening with your movements and following you around. Like a character in a cartoon followed by a trail of light. Just the two of us… Okay, I’m babling but it was an awesome way to end the day, so much so that we stayed an extra night, this time sharing our glenfidich with the cooks – to their dismay. Who drinks single malt when you can bottom up some good disinfectant?
Oooh ah. We have that too.

I wonder if it’s plankton or algae?
Thanks for that single malt, by the way. I guess it’s an acquired taste!
